Well Anchor, you snooze you lose. Turns out the first person to be killed got axed by the fucking maze. I'm incredibly disappointed in all of you.

But we do have some loopholes that can be exploited for your benefit, cuz I'm such a swell guy.

So for starters, I am a man of my word, but I can't exactly give the prize to the room itself which means I can either give it to the dead guy, or we can collectively agree this little contest of mine is still going.

Secondly, he's kind of a robot. So I don't think this even really counts. I mean he's absolutely dead. Or was anyway. But that seems like a technicality. Void where prohibited and all that.

Someone convince me they're still gonna do a murder and I'll keep this swank phone up for grabs.

I dunno but I saw him again. He disappeared from where I dumped him by the maze entrance, and now he's back.

Maybe he's a clone. Never know. Guess I should kill him again and make sure.

Could you think less about killing people and more about the fact that he came back from the dead?

It's not like I had a say in it. Our little robo friend probably didn't either.

What you rather everyone stay dead? We're gonna run out of people.

[Now there's a hard question. On the one hand, he's still reeling from the disappearances of his friends, each and every one difficult to swallow because of how few he has — has ever had, given his affliction, his occupation, his lifetime of being his bloodline's failure. To say he wouldn't want them back should they meet a grisly end is wholly untrue, no matter how much he may deny it.

On the other hand, would it truly be them? Or would they be a monster, as he is? Would he rather they were damned to an unfeeling, unnatural existence like his own?]

It would be kinder to leave them dead than to perform necromancy upon them. You have been dead and raised before, and thus ought know what a unique and terrible suffering it is.

[Loooooong pause. Because Carlisle is right, he won't admit it, doesn't want to talk about it, but he's definitely right.]

Fair enough.

And see, this is why we need to kill a person and not a robot. If he came back all revenanty we wouldn't know.

[This is one of those rare times where Carlisle knows he's right, and is sure that pause means Kabal knows he's right, too. They'll just have a silent understanding about it.]

We need not kill anyone. It's not as though this place is truly safe. Someone of flesh and bone is bound to die eventually.

[Sigh. He just hopes they do it away from him, lest he accidentally raise them.]

Been here a fucking year and no one has yet. It's almost like no one is taking any chances and just picking flowers and getting along.

Weird.

Perhaps we have been lucky in that only you seem to be so bloodthirsty.

If thats an insult it's not a good one. You were doing so well at those too.

It's an observation, not an insult. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that we are lucky no one has offered you anything worth killing someone over.

Why, have someone or something in mind? Because if you've heard about someone in need of killing and didn't pass that along to your buddy Kabal I'm gonna be real disappointed in you.

I have heard of someone, now that you mention it. His name is Kabal, and he is utterly despicable. Forget I ever asked any of this.

I'd think the whole not dying thing would be of interest to you. I'm surprised you haven't had a heart attack because you heard a loud noise.

I would be more interested in not dying were it that we simply could not die at all, not that we die and then come back.

[Also, if he wasn't already dead, but details.]

Okay but don't you want to know that now? I'd like to know if death comes with the whole enslaved to an asshole and not being able to eat deal.

And were that the case, what would you do?

Well eat a whole bunch for starters. Try and remember what that's like.

Honestly? I have no idea.

I guess "not die" is a pretty shitty plan all things considered, but might be all we've got.

It cannot be any worse a plan than enticing someone to murder for a prize. What if there were someone enslaving those who died? What if, through incessant murder, they were building an army against those they could not control?

Think robot guy is all enslaved now? Maybe I should have chopped his head off or something.

Or is that only for zombies?

A construct is often enslaved by their very nature. I don't think cutting of his head would have solved anything.

That's not really how robots work.

Well. Okay. It can be. But it usually isn't. And when it is it's all creepy and evil and wrong. So he'd probably appreciate me cutting his head off if that's the case.
