[ Yeah, so, Qubit looks a little put out for some reason! Almost as if he took something personally that definitely wasn't meant that way. ]
Qubit here. In light of recent events, I'd like to remind everyone that circumventing security measures makes the station less safe for all of us.
[ Holds up his index finger- ] Now before anyone starts, I'm by no means disputing your fundamental right to privacy. No, there should not be cameras in your private rooms. But the cameras in public spaces are there for a reason - to detect things like, say, an intruder planting surveillance where it shouldn't be.
[ He pauses for a moment, debating whether he should go for this next part. But... yes. Yes, he absolutely is this petty. ]
... On a side note. For anyone unfamiliar with Earth mythologies, "Loki" is the name of a Norse trickster god, best known for repeatedly deceiving his family and friends for his own amusement. More fool them for trusting him, I suppose.
[ Then he shrugs, with a wry expression that isn't quite a smile. ] Although if memory serves, his little pranks generally come back to bite him, sooner or later. Food for thought.

...Sorry. I didn't mean for that to get... to get all dark like that. I'm fine.
[He probably doesn't need to specify that he's fine but he feels like maybe he should??]

[ There's some bite to his tone, because he does not believe that for a goddamn second.
But he doesn't let it hang in the air too long. This isn't the time. There'll be more than enough opportunity to get into it later, and they will get into it. He lets out a long sigh. ]
... Well. Better a god of mischief than that, in any event.

Peter's really glad this is audio, otherwise there would have been no way to cover up the very obviously NOT OKAY look he just had on his face. That's why he wears a mask, his poker face is pathetic.]
...I think he can bring a lot to the table, and I think he deserves a chance here just as much as the rest of us. Gettin' all catty with each other is just going to make things more complicated than they already are, and we can't afford that right now.
no subject
[ That's not to say he trusts Loki, but Peter's right, they can't afford this kind of petty infighting. Which is something Qubit would have realized, if he had only stopped to consider what he was doing for more than two seconds.
The guy pushes so many of his hot-buttons, though. He hasn't actually done anything wrong yet; to the contrary, he's been helpful. His illusions are the whole reason Qubit has access to the security system. But somehow, everything he says seems to get under Qubit's skin in one way or another. That's not an excuse - he knows his short temper is a problem, and it's his own fault for indulging it. But he owes it to Peter to at least try and make this right. ]
You know more about him than I do. Any suggestions for smoothing this over?
no subject
[Peter sounds totally relieved. Now that it seems like the worst of this mess is over, he's going to let himself give Qubit a bit of a jab.]
You could start by apologizing for being a rude douchebag.
no subject
[ Okay but is he saying that because he already knows, or because he would rather step on a Lego?
(Answer: yes) ]
no subject
You can do it, buddy. I believe in you.
no subject
But... it's the right thing to do. ]
... Fine.
[ BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE TO LIKE IT. ]
no subject
[Getting along is just going to make everyone's lives EASIER, Qubit. Be a bro.]
no subject
[ He'll try! For your sake, he will try. He's about to sign off when he has an afterthought. ]
Oh. While I have you here, do you know anything about someone called "Creepy Joe"? [ and yes he does the air quotes. ]
no subject
Shit. [He lets out a frustrated huff of a sigh,] Yeah. Yeah, I do. It's-- this guy Drake and I ran into him outside a few months back.
no subject
Who is he? Cole here is telling me he "gave himself to the Red Shift." What does he mean by that?
no subject
Kinda puttin' me on the spot, here. Uhhh... I'm not sure. He said-- he said he didn't want to come back to Anchor. Something bad happened here. I mean, we all know that, but he didn't really specify. Like, he was super cryptic about everything, it was really hard to get a straight answer out of him. He said... uh, something weird about the suns, things change whenever there's four suns. Something like that? But, like, that was all he said. And then he went all Eldritch abomination on us and attacked us.
no subject
Peter, there are four suns now. Is that exactly what he said?
no subject
[If he sounds a little snippy that's because he really didn't want to have to think about the fuckin horror show that was Creepy Joe again.]
1/2
... All right, fair enough.
2/2
It sounds like he may have been a previous resident. One who was here for the event that depopulated the station. Safe to assume he's been altered by the Redshift phenomenon, but Cole seems to think he did it willingly. Not sure how he'd know that, but...
no subject
Yeah, he did say he was from here. Or as "from here" as any of the rest of us are. He said... he said he didn't want to come back with us, like whatever had happened here was somehow worse than being out there where he literally mutated into some kinda... just. Nightmare.
Cole just knows things. It's best not to question it.
no subject
[ He kinda gives the comm a Look, though, forgetting for half a second that they're not on video. ]
Don't be absurd, of course I'm going to question it. Is that a power of his? People don't just know things, he must get his information from somewhere.
no subject
It's-- I don't know if it's a power? He's an empath or something. He can't read minds, but he seems to be able to read feelings. Like, he-- okay, when I first met him, I was uh... Not... doing well, and he rolls in like "yo you feel like shit and here's why" and I was like "dude you are so right". Then he gave me really good advice that took me way too long to actually follow.
...My point is, he's actually really cool.
no subject
[ WHY THOUGH. ]
no subject
[I DON'T KNOW BUT IT'S SUPER WEIRD.]
And it was nuts because I really needed it, too. It's like he knew exactly what to say.
no subject
... Well, I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm assuming he was a little more... coherent at the time?
[ In case you haven't noticed, Qubit is not the most patient guy, and so far he finds Cole's particular brand of weirdness a little frustrating. ]
no subject
[Oh Peter knows. He pays very close attention to things that annoy Qubit. For reasons.]
no subject
That may be, but does he have to be so New Age about everything?
