So... few of us here have come from other places, right?
[She tucks her hair behind her ear and a few of the shorter strands fall forwards again. Annoyed, she puffs them out of her face with a quick exhale.]
I guess that doesn't matter, really-- Would you want to forget it all?
[Julie pauses, then adds some clarification.]
Where I've been, people didn't remember stuff after they left. Sometimes they'd come back and not remember they'd been there. Would you want that, or... would you want to remember?

[She pushes her hair back, frowning.]
But there's a lot of shit I could do without.

[Sure, the last month was probably the hardest of his young life. But, he grew from it, so that was a good thing, right?]

[There's a good deal of Julie's life that she doesn't like. Parts of herself - the hard, jagged-edged parts - that she doesn't want. But she is who she is.]
Sometimes life is just shit.

[Surprisingly, Yamamoto too, it's why his dad had to teach him such a lesson, show his son and try to help him accept the parts of him he did not like. He does okay or at least he pretends pretty well and always encourages his friends.]
Yeah, but it makes you appreciate the good more.

[It comes out harsher than she means it, though the barb isn't directed at Yamamoto. Julie can still remember how her father was before, when he would play guitar while her mother sang, but she can't even be sure if those memories are real and not just tainted with the rosy lenses of childhood.
Everything from her tweens onwards is bitter-tasting and sharp. Innocence lost.]
But I guess... the good is pretty good when there's not a whole lot of it.

[His dad taught him to fight but he knows he is lucky in that his dad also taught him how to care and was always loving and supportive. For most of his life, he just thought that's how it was, but he has learned since, that not everyone has that.
Most of his friends do not have that and he wishes he could show them even a little of what it was like, because being lucky he wants to share that luck with those he cares about.]
Yeah, we can pick what we hold onto, me I'll pick the good, like ice cream in the summer, or fireworks with my friends, first kisses, those are really nice, wouldn't want to forget those.

[A lot of what Julie wouldn't want to lose is back in her childhood, but there have been more recent things, too. It's just hard to see it all, sometimes, when it's wrapped up inside so much hurt.
Maybe it was a stupid question for her to ask, really. Not everyone has been through the kind of shit that she has.]
I could go for some ice cream right now.

To him, the bad are just blips on the way to the good, move the obstacle, and keep on going; it's one foot in front of the other kind of thing.]
I wonder if the Daisy Darling would come back, we could make mochi ice cream; it's good.

Bet there's some in storage in this place somewhere. Even people in space gotta want ice cream.
no subject
We should go see if we can't find some.
no subject
[She doesn't need to think about it for very long.]
Yeah, sure, why not. It's been ages.

[It would be a nice surprise for them and their friends here in the dome, everyone could use a pick me up.]
I can go whenever you want.
[Not like there is a schedule to keep.]

[Given her reaction to the cake, he can probably get the idea that Julie has missed out on a hell of a lot in her life.]
There's some restaurants up near where the shops are, yeah? Maybe the freezers kept running.

[True and Yamamoto is all about helping his friends, even if it's just as something as simple as ice cream or cake, he wants to see them all happy.]

[Look, she knows he's damn fast, and maybe she's feeling like a bit of a challenge today.]

[And he is up and on his way out the door already!]
no subject
Still, she's going to try.]

It helps that Hayato caught him as he dashed out the door so he stopped a few moments to tell his boyfriend where he was going before taking off again. He is only a few seconds behind her most likely but Julie does win this race.
He jogs up chuckling with that wide smile for her.]
No way, you beat me! Nice!
no subject
Easy enough to find, after all. Most of the time she wouldn't need to dodge zombies to get anything.]
Yeah-- yeah... just gimme a minute. Fucking Christ.
no subject
Are you okay?
[Maybe he can help?]
no subject
[She waves her hand at him again, shaking her head while each breath struggles into her lungs on a wheeze.]
Stupid asthma.
no subject
[His brow stays creased worriedly, though he does stand there waiting for her to catch her breath.]
Can I do anything?
no subject
[It's been a while now since she had an asthma attack bad enough to send her to her knees.... and really, it's never been a luxury she's been able to afford. She stays standing, hands braced against her legs, and takes enough deep breaths that she's able to straighten herself up.]
See? [She's still wheezing slightly, but not getting worse.] All good.
no subject
[Maybe he should carry some brown paper bags too, do those help? He is not a hundred percent sure but he'd try what he can think of if it's needed.]
That's kind of scary, I've never known anyone who that happens to. [He smiles.] But I'm really glad you're okay!
