[The video opens up to a young man with silver hair, a bored expression on his face, and a kitten on his shoulder.]

Is there anyone around here that's good with robotics and/or programming?

[The boy points to a leather half choke collar around his neck. The kitten on his shoulder yawns, tucks its face against the collar, and one of its legs hang off, the flames gushing out of its ears doing absolutely nothing to Gokudera's neck.]

This keeps shocking me, and it can't be removed. It only started when I arrived on Anchor, so I think the travel here is causing it to ma- [He winces gently, and the kitten gets up and then hops off and out of the camera's view.] malfunction.

[Soaking in the extra attention, Tripod wehhh's some more, revealing too many teeth for a normal cat and a long slender tongue. Despite that, he's still somehow not very threatening, as he climbs Rey's pant leg.

[One instant later, he ends up on her shoulder. Rey brings the camera to her deadpan expression and a happy, drooling mutant cat draped around the back of her neck like a purring scarf. She just sighs, like she's used to this by now.]

"Cute" isn't usually the first thing some people say when they see him, but... he's got his charms.

[Plus he's grown on her somewhat.

[She pats his head with her free hand.] Soft? Kind of. He's hairless, except for some layer of fluff. Guess he feels more like a peach.

[Tripod beams as though this were a compliment.]

[Gokudera chuckles at the strange cat's antics, amused at how well he climbs when he's only got three legs. The tongue and too many teeth don't even seem to make him bat an eyelash.]

He does! He looks fuzzy... [Awww like a peach. Seems as sweet as one, too.]

[He clears his throat, realizing that it's a bit awkward how much attention he's paying to the creature when the person on video started this. Come on, boy have some manners.]

I'm Gokudera, by the way.

[He's surprisingly spry for what he's got to work with. Even impresses Rey sometimes.]

You wouldn't think it by looking at him, but...

[She casts a sidelong glance at the cat, now resting his little chin on her shoulder. It doesn't even occur to her that names haven't been exchanged (because she's also rude as heck), being distracted as she is. Her attention returns to her phone.]

Am Rey. This is Tripod. [She jerks a thumb at the sleepy mutant kitty. Maybe he exerted himself getting up there.] Was told that that's what he used to be called, at least. Didn't name him.

I hope I can meet him in person some time. Uri loves... other people.

[Not him. Stupid jerk cat purposefully trying to make him jealous all the time.]

Nice to meet you both. [He lifts an eyebrow at the last remark.] Did you get him from someone else?

Maybe. Meeting other people and their cats might be good for him.

[Since Tripod's other kitty "play date" is no longer around to hang out with sometimes.]

Um, kind of...? There're a lot of people around who were stuck in other places that took them from their worlds before coming here. Was recognized by some as... a different version -- this cat being among them. Guess you could say he was brought here from another... me? [She's not sure how else to say it.]

I don't know if Uri has ever met another cat...

[Maybe? Not like Tripod, anyways. Uri met the Tenth's lion cub, and Bester, the Liger. Uri isn't even modeled after a housecat. Gokudera's cat is a leopard kitten and Storm Flames.]

Oh? Did the other you leave anything else behind?

Think there's still a few around. Animals just show up sometimes, don't know where they come from.

[It's debatable that Tripod is even a housecat, but that's what people have been calling him, so Rey just goes with that. Not like she's spent much time around animals before to know any different.]

No, just the cat. [For all she knows.] No one's been able to give any more detail than that, anyway.

And they're real? Like... living and breathing?

[Pardon him, the world he was in before this didn't have any organic life except the people that were pulled in.]

Ah, then at least you aren't alone.

Real enough. Can't say they aren't genetically engineered or anything, though.

[Hey, she gets it.]

Depends on your definition of "alone" -- don't know any of the people here from before. [And, in a way, that's a good thing, as far as Rey is concerned. Though it's frustrating not knowing how much someone knows her, it happens.]

That's fine. Still real.

Having someone to talk to. Even if Tripod is a cat, he's company. Hey, I just got here recently, so I don't know you from before, either.

Heh, yeah. Guess it can be nice to have something to talk to other than yourself...

[Something which Rey is all too used to as a result of prolonged periods of isolation and temporary insanity. At least with Tripod, she can pretend someone is listening to what she has to say.]

Been thinking about getting something to cover him up with, in case it gets cold again. He didn't do too well when the temperature dropped a few months ago.

It is. Uri is always with me, and I’ve definitely been alone enough to appreciate the company. Even if it’s not a person. Tripod seems pretty vocal.

[Those whiny cat noises are way too cute. Gokudera is smitten.]

Is there anywhere to get clothing on Anchor? You could always make him a sweater from a long sleeve or a sock.

He can be when he really wants something.

[Which Rey has figured out is just how he communicates. Like wanting to be part of the conversation, for instance, because boy did he sure know how to dominate the show.

[She's gotten used to it by now though, even casting a fond glance and patting the top of his wrinkly head.]

Maybe. Seen shops around, might have something like that. Never understood why pet clothing was a thing until seeing him, but now it seems necessary.

He's adorable. [Gokudera will say that over and over and over again.]

Well, he's not too big, or fat, and with no fur, I bet he gets cold easily.

[He points right at the camera.]

If you put a sweater on him, I need you to show me pictures.

[Tripod chirrups in his "sleep" like he heard that, or at least acknowledges that he knows he's being talked about. Rey doesn't pay him much mind; it's normal.]

Might need to find someone who can tailor something that small, but noted.

[Because Rey is hardly a seamstress. She knows how to stitch but making clothing patterns? Nope.]

[Gokudera looks hurt by how cute that noise is. He even puts a hand to his cheek. Oh... no how is Tripod so cute? He wishes Uri would snuggle him like that.]

I'd have to meet him to see about getting him a sweater. I'm sure I could make something. [It may not be the most fashionable, but he could figure something out that resembles a shirt or sweater well enough.]
