So, I know we're all sorta trying to pitch in where we can 'round here and I was just wondering--

Has anyone bothered to map the place? I could do it, if no one else has taken it up.

Also, is there some sort of mass inventory list somewhere, of everything we've got on hand? Usable items, non-usable ones, things than can be re-purposed...

[Newt is in the park on the lower level but there's something a bit... different here all the sudden. It's hard to tell what he's standing in front of, because it's completely covered in some sort of fungus.

He looks a bit concerned.]

Guys, we might have problem.

[He pans the camera around the immediate area, and it's all the same, everything in sight covered in the same sort of fungus, and when he takes steps toward the edge of the lake, the angry red algae doesn't look much better.]

My gut says if it's red, you're dead.

[ Public speaking is far from Ben's forte, but the good thing about uploading a video like this is that he can do multiple takes. In the frame behind Ben are shelves full of books; he filmed this in that little anteroom of the library that he and Peter had unearthed from the rubble.

He gets right to it; no introductions, no small talk. ]

Can anyone with experience at interpreting maps, handling old and fragile documents, or just anybody who speaks multiple languages please get in contact with me? I found some interesting stuff in the library a while back but I'm not making much progress with it.

[ A pause, and he seems about to terminate the video. Then he adds as an afterthought: ]

Oh, and I guess if anybody is just looking for something good to read to pass the time, I can help out with that. I can check if a particular book is down here, or recommend something.

[ Ben's self-appointed himself as the de facto librarian of the Anchor, because he wants to contribute in some way, and he's always been a bit of a bookworm. ]

[ Patch thinks she's figured out how to broadcast to the network from the terminal screen in her room. She actually begins transmitting before she realizes, and there are a few candid moments of her checking settings along the edge of the screen, clearing her throat, running one hand through her hair and sweeping a few stray strands of her long bangs back behind her ear. ]

Hello, Anchor. My name is Detective Patch.

We've, ah, been through a lot these last two weeks. I can't be the only one who's had to suspend a lot of my disbelief to wrap my head around this place. It feels unreal. Part of me want to embrace that, to cling to the assertion that this can't be happening, and let that be a comfort. I don't think it'll be productive, though. I think our best method of accepting any new situation is to connect with others in the same situation.

I know, easier said than done. Opening up is never easy, especially to a stranger... so I'll go first.

there will be talk of violence and death, both in the post and probably all throughout the comments. please don't read any further if this will upset you. if you'd like a sanitized summary of what's being said, feel free to contact me OOC. )
