[A person could not possibly sound more exasperated than Julie does right at this moment. Guess who just found the kitchens entirely blocked off?]
I just want some fucking pancakes, what the actual fuck is going on?

[Look, it's not even really about the pancakes. She's frustrated because she's hungry.]

[ It is a really basic and obvious question and possibly he shouldn't even ask it but maybe she's upset enough that she didn't consider looking? ]
Did it get shut down before?
no subject
[She presses her lips together, then purses them slightly.]
A lot of Anchor was locked up when we got here. I don't remember the kitchen being one of those places. What the fuck is going on?
no subject
[ Reynir hates problems he can't help with! Hates them. There has to be some way he can assist her, at least a little? ]
So... are you locked in where you are or just locked out of the kitchen?
[ The distinction seems important... ]
no subject
[Ugh, it's one of those things that's so easy to forget about.]
Just locked out. You can bet I'd be making a hell of a lot more fucking noise if I was locked in. But this is really weird.

[ Kitchens have like, fire and stuff. Seems more plausible to him than this being something about Julie in particular. ]
Even so, they really should've left a note... it's rude to just lock the doors.
no subject
[She frowns and tries to prise open the electronic panel beside the door, only to be gifted with a small static shock.]
Agh-- fuck, damn it, what the actual fucking hell--
no subject
What happened, are you okay?
[ Is that not supposed to happen? Julie, explain! He is worried! ]
no subject
[The actual nerve of it! Julie stamps one foot on the ground, a little petulant as she steps back from the door and scowls up at it. What does a girl have to do to get some food around here, anyway?]
I'm gonna need a plan B, here...
no subject
Are there other ways in? Maybe it's just that door in particular and if you found a way around the back you could get inside? Or is is possible to cook pancakes elsewhere? Does it have to be pancakes or would any food do because I've got some ginger cookies in my room...?
no subject
[But the fact the kitchen has locked them all out is still a problem. One she can come back to when she's managed to find something for breakfast.]
But I don't want to like, raid your personal supplies or anything.

Naw, c'mon, it'll be super fun, like an impromptu party. I'm happy to share. Why don't you head over and I'll see what else I can dig up. Do you like tea? It could be a tea party.
[ Literally just a moment's searching has turned up some other confections and biscuits and things and Reynir says to Julie: ]
My friend Onni's always baking, I think he does it when he's stressed just to calm down, so we've sort of drowning in sweets here.
no subject
[A hot drink sounds great right now, even if she doesn't actually drink it and just holds it in her hands.]
And I mean, who am I to turn down someone asking me to help them clear out some excess baking, right?
no subject
[ If he had coffee he would offer it to her, but Reynir's not really a fan. ]
Exactly! Please, Julie, I am being suffocated by mountains of ginger cookies! You're the only one who can help!
[ The situation with the door being lock and shocking her sucks, but Reynir is good at adding a little fun and humor to bad situations when they're needed. He likes Julie. He wants very much to make her shitty day a little better. ]

You ever think what this place must have been like when it was full of people? I mean, it was obviously built for hundreds.
[And with so little information here on just what happened to them.]
no subject
I'm not even sure whether I'd like that. I've only been to the city a couple times and it was pretty overwhelming.
[ He doesn't mind saying that to Julie because she's from a world that went to shit, too, so he feels like she's not gonna judge him for it. even though maybe she lived in a more densely-populated area before everything started to go wrong. For Reynir, a tiny rural town was all he'd known most of his life. ]
It reminds me of the Silent World. All those empty places, so many echoes of the past. But no ghosts, though. Which is a relief.
no subject
She has to wonder what Reynir would have made of it all.]
Yeah... I see enough actual dead people just fucking walking around, without seeing ghosts as well. [She makes a face, pursing her lips slightly.]
Do you know Klaus?
