video; UN: wingingit

[ For a moment, after the device turns on, there's only a faint outline of a man sitting in front of it. A ghostly presence, as transparent as a window.

Then the figure flickers, and Poe comes into focus. He doesn't look well. Sweaty, eyes feverish, there for a moment and then flickering again like a struggling television. BB-8 is in the background, whistling in concern, but that whistling comes and goes along with Poe. Neither one of them look particularly attached to the world at the moment.

When Poe speaks, it goes from faint to clear and pained. ]

So this is new. So's that ship outside, has anyone else noticed that? Has anyone else tried to get to--auuuck.

[ He doubles up a little, teeth gritted. ] Okay, first thing... first. Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

[ He lifts a hand and it pales, before flashing back into clarity. ]

One second I'm walking toward my room, next minute I'm down in the park and there are two extra suns in the sky and from what I can tell it's been a month since I was here.

How many people could possibly have experience with that! [ Almost 2 years, 3 different worlds with different problems and different rules, and it turns out there is still plenty of room left for being surprised.

It's mostly the whole... flickering situation. Finn did not know that was a thing that happened to anyone at all, let alone here. And at least a tiny bit because Poe is back to be possibly-dying at all. He will be relieved about the sharp friends-present increase in due order, but urgency takes a well-deserved front seat for now.

He's looked for them.

Finn's known people to slip between the cracks from one day to the next his whole life. Training one night, erased from the records by breakfast. He's still good at not letting himself think about it, at trudging forward. Always has been. But being allowed to ask about them after, to keep his eyes peeled for them, is a luxury in which he always indulges now that he has it.

(Sitting back and hoping that maybe Poe and BB-8 somehow got shipped home didn't sit right. Better to be on the lookout. Just in case.)

There was always somewhere else left to check. This is a big place. A weird place. Not so much as a hint of them anywhere he's covered. Anchor is, by his professional accounting......... dumb. ]

Where are you? Still in the park?

[ He's already moving but like, on principle. This subject line's not a shitpost until Finn tries it and sees if it works okay. ]

[ He takes it back. The colony gets a point for having a Medbay. Finn makes a wordless sound of acknowledgement, namely to confirm that he will be there as soon as possible, naturally.

We could use better hobbies, he remembers saying, a few months back now. Wasn't much of a relief then. Doesn't feel like one now, either. But he thinks that maybe one of these days he'll actually try putting an effort into that. ]

Let's save "fine" for when you're actually fine. It'll hold. [ Classic Poe.

Finn appreciates it. ]

For all we know, this happened all the time back before the place cleared out. Could be an easy fix.

[ Finn doesn't necessarily sound convinced or convincing either, as is his wont. He still put all the "I will do literally anything possible to try to ensure that this is a when over an if, up to and including trying to 1v1 the laws of physics in this universe as needed" energy at his disposal behind it, though.

Because he is several years off, at least, from taking the intensity down from 110% to a cool 100. He'll throw all the whens in the world out there. ]
