voice;
I guess I don't have to tell you not to let these fucking things bite you, yeah?
[She sounds a little out of breath.]
Fucking-- fuck. Why is it always zombies.
[She sounds a little out of breath.]
Fucking-- fuck. Why is it always zombies.
voice
[He sounds, hard, firm, not the usual jovial young man she is probably used to but she'll recognize Yamamoto's voice.]
no subject
[Having not requested a rescue, Julie is... perplexed.]
Wandering around isn't a good fucking idea right now, dude.
no subject
[Here he pauses, cause he has to keep going as long as there are zombies to fight he can not give in. But he is already out here, already fighting and he needs to find somewhere and rest. Checking in on Julie at the same time would help]
I need to hole up, take a break. They...[He swallows, takes a breath, she may hear the swing of his blade as he takes one out.]
Got Hayato and I've been out here fighting them ever since.
[How many times has he taken down a monster with the face of someone he loves today, he has lost count but certainly if he closes his eyes he can see them all, right down to his boyfriend who he failed to save.]
no subject
[There's a dull noise in the background, and Julie mutters a quiet expletive.]
... Sorry about your boyfriend. I know how that feels.
no subject
What I need and what I have to do are different; if you're in trouble, I can help. I--can't lose anyone else.
[There's a soft sigh, and Yamamoto leans against the wall in the space he is taking a break for a moment in. This may be as good as holing up gets, quick pauses before the next battle.]
I know...but I have to think about after this or more people are going to die.
[There it is, he can feel the battle mode seep back into his blood because if nothing else, he still has friends to save.]
no subject
... Fine. I'm down near the park. They don't have me cornered or anything. I'm just... used to this, I guess.
no subject
He will need to train harder still. there is a faint hint of bitterness in his laugh, just for the moment. He will find his bright side again, he always does.]
I'll find you around there, staying still too long outside seems like a bad idea.
[A beat.]
It doesn't mean it's easy, too much like home for comfort?
no subject
[Unless someone wants to blow an airlock, and she doesn't really count on their chances if that happens. For somewhere that's meant to keep people safe, Anchor is sure good at almost getting them all killed.]
And it just means I know what the fuck I'm doing. No easy or hard about it.
no subject
[There is a little bitterness in his tone. She is far from wrong about that, had they a way to escape and somewhere safe to escape to maybe things would be different.
Then again every movie or game he has ever seen, even open spaces don't keep a person safe when it comes to zombies.]
Best suited in Anchor probably.
[he is moving as swiftly as he can, she may not realize it but just hearing a friend's voice gives him more motivation to fight on than if he had continued on his own.]
no subject
[She could go on and inject some more colourful language into it, but the truth of the matter is that Julie is very accustomed to not feeling safe, to the point that security is a distant memory anchored back in the time before she knew that the world was dangerous.
It still was, she just didn't know it yet.]
Well, I've not been bitten yet. They're not smart, but I bet they can move fast when they want to.
no subject
[Home wasn't exactly safe, here isn't, the other worlds he has heard if have not sounded so safe. He knew danger existed this is just a lesson in that it is possible to lose everything in a split second.
He needs to be less careless.]
Have you see any that look like people you know?
[Or has that just been him and Hayato?]
no subject
[God, and she's so bitter because this place has always been weird but she's never really felt like she was in real danger. There was always a way to dodge what was going on.
At the question, she falls silent and the silence drags out into a long, pregnant pause.]
Yeah.
no subject
[He is actually bitter himself right now, he'll lose it because that is who he is. He takes the bad, puts it in neat boxes, and locks it up. Boy if those boxes ever explode one day.
So it's not just him, that means it's everyone and that makes this worse, how many people are going to freeze at the sight of someone from home and end up fodder for the zombies.]
It's messed up...
[After there is a slight sound of a scuffle, a short expletive from the swordsman, and then just a soft breath from him.]
I think you're right, some of them were slow but that one came out of nowhere and fast.
no subject
Julie hears the scuffle and pauses mid-step, not moving too far away from where she told him he was.]
What was that? You okay?
no subject
He gives a short, bitter chuckle, not amused, not happy almost a reflex, tainted by his current emotions or lack of allowing himself to really feel them.]
Remember, Connor, that was Connor.
[Talks of timelines and baseball, now a bitter taste in his mouth.]
no subject
[She hears a noise behind her and whips 'round sharply, but it's only one of the park's animals running from under one bush to another. Julie sighs, rubbing the back of her neck. There's a faint tang of blood on the air, and she can't tell if it's in her mouth or on her clothes, or just in the general atmosphere around her.]
Are you close by?
no subject
[That she remains safe from the sound of it is a relief to him. He takes a breather for a moment and looks around.]
Yeah, should only be another minute or two as long as no more of them get in the way.
no subject
[Someone who probably isn't here anymore. Had she known someone called Connor? She really has to get into the habit of asking people's names.]
Great, because I'm starting to feel like I need to move.
[Action]
[He warns Julie, just so she does not one get surprised, two shoot him or some other thing.
After a short pause to be certain she got his message, then he comes around the corner. He looks harder than usual, clearly holding back all his emotions under the need to survive.
The biggest tell everything is not alright, there is no bright smile that lights his face when he sess her.]
no subject
She doesn't smile when she sees him, either, but she notices the lack of change in his expression. Even now, she might have expected him to be forcing some measure of cheer... but he's lost someone, and she knows how that feels.]
Hey.
[When he gets close enough, she claps one of her hands lightly against the side of his shoulder.]
Keep it together.
no subject
His eyes are drawn to her weapon and it nearly twitches something out of his face. She is resourceful for sure.]
Hey.
[He nods, pulling his shoulders up, that strength still in him despite that he feels shattered inside.]
Right, still got a lot of zombies to kill.
no subject
Yeah. Plenty.
[No saving these ones. There's nothing she can do about it, even with the Cure being part of her body. Hell, she isn't sure she could do it without R.]
You got any problems with this?
no subject
No, there's no way to save them, it's the only choice we have.
[They are no longer human that he has accepted, even if they wear the faces of people he holds dear.]
voice
no subject
[Hah! She really hopes this isn't going to become a regular thing.]
But uh... I've been to other places before this one. And my home's just... fucking zombies. I'm so over it.
no subject
Shit, man, I'm sorry to hear that.
They work the same way they work in all those shitty B horror flicks? This is actually my first run-in with them, so...
no subject
[Feels like zombie 101 to her, really.]
You okay looking out for yourself?
no subject
And I'm pretty handy with a sword, so I should be okay, probably? Just gotta get my hands on a decent weapon first.
no subject
[You might say it's tried and tested.]
You know to just cut the heads off, right?
[audio | @hot.damn]
[Rey, no.]
no subject
[She wouldn't recommend it, but hey, people do what they do.]
Where I come from, it turns you into one of them. If they don't rip you apart first.
no subject
Is it just their bite that does it? What about scratches and shit?
no subject
[She pauses, then adds--]
You're not thinking of getting up close and personal, are you?
