[Well, that's one way to get things started. There's also a reason why all you're hearing is Rey's voice and she's not texting, because she sounds like someone who hasn't slept in several days. That's also because she hasn't slept in several days. Sleep is dumb.]

"First of all: Who's been familiarizing themselves with the tech in this place, if anyone? Maybe someone who can help with electrical and engineering, computing, shit like that. Trying to get some shut doors open here.

"Second: We got any mechanics? Figured those rigs in the garage and shop could use some tidying. Might be useful.

"Last: Been digging through the library's rubble for anything worthwhile. Found lots of weird shit, from alien to ancient Earth texts... Left what's legible and intact sorted in some piles there, but feel free to organize or sort through any of it if you're curious or just need something to do.

[Pause.]

"Speaking of which, what are you doing?"

[That's almost more of an existential question than Rey intended it to be. If she gets any smartass responses, she has only herself to blame.]

Well, mostly just think it's good for people to pool over ideas on what they're good at, and what they're interested in learning. Play into each other's strengths.

If you're into exploration, having people who're willing to scout outside of Anchor is a good start. Like that city that's a ways from here...

We have to go, I agree. There might be all sorts of useful things there, or information at the very least, so we have some idea of where we are, why we're here.

Was thinking the same thing. Maybe it'll have some answers on what happened to the people here. If there are any survivors, we can't bank on them being friendly -- or sane. [Like Joe Tentacle-face.] Should expect a fight, either way.

Best bet is to get a rig up and working to make the trip. Things are too fucked out there to try and hoof it to unfamiliar territory through risk of storms and radiation.

No, they're not. Some are, but there are others digitally on datapads, tablets, stuff like that.

At least there's that. The scrolls aren't much use unless you can read Chinese-- [one of the languages that Rey never dabbled into, either] --and even then... What's really fucking weird is how and why they have shit from nearly a thousand years ago lying around, but that can be said about a lot of other things here.

A thousand years isn't that long.

Me n'Qubit are really good for tech stuff. He's better at like, programming and stuff than I am, but I'm good at fixing and building things.

You seem like you know this place pretty well by now too, don't you? Could use some help with trying to open some doors, but don't want to break shit while doing it.

I can give it a shot. I haven't had any luck with the doors so far, but it's been a while since I've tried my hand at getting them open.

Of course some of us are working on it, and considering how little we have to work with, I'd say we're doing a pretty fine job, thank you!

Okay, am just going to stop you right there before you give your asshole an aneurysm. Because those are great feats, but it's better to know what everyone is doing here and if they need help getting off their own hands in order to do it. Relying on one or two guys to run maintenance isn't good enough in the long run. People need to learn what to do. Got it?

You should have made that clear from the start. That is an issue, but right now, Peter and I are the only ones with the skills to keep this place running. Unless you know someone else who's been waiting to step up and join us.

If you find anyone willing to work on the garage and shop, I'd be willing to help out.

Not entirely familiar with these things, but I can learn.

No worries, a lot of the tech here is new even for those of us more familiar. [Stupid alien gear.]

Should be possible to figure those rigs out, but they don't look like they can go very far.

How far do they need to go?

Not sure yet, but from the looks of what we've got, it doesn't look like it'll be enough to handle a round trip, so -- should probably fix that.

Sounds like you found something worth getting them to.

Ben was cataloging what is in the library, but I'm unsure where he kept the lists he made. Perhaps Ami would know? She seems to be his successor in such things.

Right. There was a lot of stuff being catalogued there but not everything was pulled out of the wreckage. Found some shit in there that's weird.

Some have been exploring outside, but the fact that areas of this place are still locked and inaccessible leads me to think exploring internally may be more beneficial. That entire flooded basement had not been uncovered previously. So there is much to learn in here.

Working on trying to get fish farming operational. So we can have a stable enough population to act as a regular food supply.
