Perhaps not. I am more avoidant these days than I was in life.

[And given he wasn't the most outgoing guy in the world even then, that's saying something.]

I am surprised the other me was so open at all, but I suppose he had less to fear.

He wasn't that open. I don't think he liked me very much at first.

Then how is it you got on his good side?

I kept showing up.

I suppose that would do it, if he was anything like me.

[The 'me' he is now, not the 'me' he used to be, which are apparently different enough for him to make that distinction.]

He was a great deal like you.

[She doesn't press the fact that - in her mind - they are the same person, as it seems to upset him when she does. If he wants to think of them as separate entities... she can adapt.]

He liked my drawings, and I think he appreciated how I'd listen to him.

[A pause in messages. It's hard for him to consider this other, happier Carlisle somewhere, but at times, he is admittedly curious about his life — a life he could have had, were the circumstances different.]

Did he have many friends? Other than you and Deputy Pratt.

He had friends. Probably more friends than he realised.
