But his motives aren't entirely selfless; it's just good, seeing Peter happy and hearing a story about something working out for once.
He nods along as Peter tells him about all the delays, all the reasons he used to justify not getting invested. Ben knows a little something about playing that particular game. Maybe not over a person in the same way, but he'd felt like that almost nonstop when he first got here. Not wanting to let himself believe in being alive again because it might end or turn out not to be real. But then it had finally sunk in that this really was a second chance.
And apparently it had sunk in for Peter that he might actually get to be with Poison. When Peter mentions that Cole had been the one to give him a little push in the right direction, Ben just beams. ]
